They had a lovely wedding at Twin Oakes Church on Saturday, January 30, 2010. Jessica and Sam are a fabulous couple and they absolutely adore one another. I love the way they both counted the days until their wedding day. Sam reminded me this as I photographed him before he saw Jessica :) The excitement overflowed and everyone there was elated their wedding day was finally here! Sam and Jessica opted to see one another before their wedding, this gave us lots of time to have fun. There was snow on the ground, but the sun was out and it was beautiful! When I lived in San Diego, I would help my Nana each year to make them. Now that I live in STL, it is not as easy for me to help. This year I was able to be there :) Making tamales takes quite a bit of time, but I love this time, I love sharing these moments with my grandmother talking, sharing memories and listening to cumbias. Plus the hard work is so worth it, my grandmother makes the best tamales! Last week I was able to share time with seven wonderful families! It was a chilly day, but the sun was out :)<p><br /><align="left">The Dunham family use to be our neighbors at <a href="http://covenantseminary.edu" target="_blank">Covenant Seminary</a>. It was fun to see them and visit with their family. Their kiddos are so sweet, each time I took Julia's pictures, she'd give me a hug :) Cheryl sewed Julia's dress, so adorable. I love this story because my hubby did the same thing for me. They had an amazing wedding. Lots of tears flowed throughout the day :) Jessica and John put so much of themselves in this wedding. Not one detail was left undone without their attention. Jessica, John and Jessica's mom are unbelieveably creative. They made all the flower creations, yes, that includes the amazing bouquets. Jessica's mom is a quilter, she made and designed the canopy and quilted them a guest sign in blanket. This gesture seems to have been derived from one of the ancient images of male and female union, the infinity sign, or figure eight. The infinity sign signifies completeness as it is composed of a male, clockwise circle and a female, couterclock wise circle. Since neighter circle lies above the other, the infinity sign implies equality between the male and female. The act of handfasting is where our modern day expression "to tie the knot" comes from.</p><br /><img src="http://www.kellyparkphoto.com/blog/014wedjj.jpg"><br /><align="left">Jessica and John had a ring warming ceremony. My husband Patrick planned a wonderful trip for our family to visit the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We had originally planned to go at the beginning of summer, but bad weather <a href="http://kellyparkphoto.blogspot.com/2009/06/yellowstone-park-family-vacation.html" target="_blank">postponed our trip</a>! On our way to Wyoming we stopped at Mt. Rushmore, which our kiddos thought was really neat to see. We camped on Jenny Lake and had a beautiful view of the Grand Tetons. We spent an entire day at Yellowstone, but could of spent another day there, there is so much to see! We had lots of time for portraits, Casey and Cara are having their reception this weekend in their hometown in North Dakota. Casey and Cara are an adorable couple, it's obvious how well loved they are by their family and friends. I have been getting alot of inquiries about mini sessions dates :) I am offering mini portrait sessions on Saturday, October 24th.
